As we await the conclusion of the 58th Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards, the Natural History Museum in London, UK, has released an eagerly awaited preview of the “most lauded” entries that will compete for the title of Best Nature Photographer of the World.

From quirky images like a disappearing giraffe and a tree frog gathering party to some thought-provoking images like a bonobos gently holding a ferret pup, the entries highlight different life forms around the world and capture the essence of biodiversity.

Also among the finalists is a photographer from India, Srikanth Manipuri. Through his stunning photograph – a bird’s-eye view of a fish market in Andhra Pradesh – he points to the overexploitation of ocean treasures due to unsustainable fishing practices.

Through this stunning shot and medium of photography, the competition aims to raise public interest and awareness about wildlife conservation as a whole.

This year’s competition winners, including the prestigious Grand Title Award and Young Grand Title Award, will be announced on October 11, 2022.

Check out some of this year’s great finalists in the slideshow above.
