‘Something might be broken!’ – Tsitsipas in awe of Nadal mindset

“Something might break in it!” – Stefanos Tsitsipas in fear of Rafael Nadal’s ridiculous mentality

Stefanos Tsitsipas has highlighted Rafael Nadala’s ridiculous French Open record as one of the most impressive things he could take from spending time with the Big Four at the Laver Cup.

The Greek star arrived at the central O2 Arena in second place on Friday, beating world number 17 Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 6-1 to put Team Europe 2-0 ahead as they look to win the Laver Cup for the fifth time in a row.

As Tsitsipas and his fellow younger generation play alongside greats Roger Federer, Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, Tsitsipas gave his thoughts on the “King of Clay”.

“Rafa is incredibly humble,” Tsitsipas said in his post-match press conference, before pausing, adding: “Something could break, because 26 consecutive Roland Garros titles are not normal in human terms.

“I think there should be like changing the filter, because that is incredible, I think about it a lot. It takes not only a lot of talent, but dedication and a lack of understanding of what I have done in order to keep doing it year after year.”

Although Tsitsipas was exaggerated, it is astonishing that Nadal won 14 Grand Slam titles in Paris, which equates to as many major slams as previous men’s record holder Pete Sampras in all four events.

The Spaniard will need to give his best on a special occasion as he teams up with Federer in the final competitive match for Switzerland as the duo hope to be 3-0 at Team World if Murray defeats Alex de Minaur.
